Good African is committed to encouraging agricultural best practices that recognize the importance of environment and sustainable biodiversity. In line with this we are:
- Organising Organic certification through the UK based Soil Association. To date 2028 farmers have been registered and our target is to be 100% Organic certified by 2015.
- Encouraging the planting of shade trees, grass bands along irrigation trenches and the regular mulching of crops. Farmers are also given guidance on the practice of inter-cropping with coffee.
- Instructing Farmers to avoid grazing and bush burning in the National parks.
- Persuading Farmers against unplanned tree cutting for construction timber or fire wood.
- Giving guidance on soil and water management by digging trenches on the slopes, and the regular upkeep of their land.
- Working with the Uganda Wildlife Authority to discourage Farmers and their families from poaching in the surrounding Queen Elizabeth National Park.
